Established in 1994, Focus Technology Group provides a full range of IT solutions and services for businesses throughout Southland, Otago & Canterbury. Having built a strong reputation alongside a passionate and down-to-earth classically South Island approach, Focus has found a winning formula in partnership with Solarix. Focus services include network infrastructure design, cloud services, telephony and Internet, ERP software and more.

Solarix is the exclusive upstream provider of Focus’ WAN services.

Because Focus has a strong presence within the South Island it was imperative for them to increase carrier resilience in the region.

Solarix have increased Carrier Resilience Capacity from its data centres in Christchurch to the Invercargill exchange, are currently in the process of connecting Invercargill to Queenstown, and have already connected Christchurch to Queenstown.

“Essentially, we have created a ring in Southland enabling us to re-route if one or more of these links becomes temporarily unavailable. This enables Solarix to give even further increased resilience to our customers in Southland under the stewardship of Focus. A relationship that we have been very fortunate to be able to develop and support over the years”, says Flemming Rasmussen, Managing Director & Partner, Solarix Networks Ltd.

This upgrade also means far more resilience for customers accessing Focus’ Cloud service as the data centre is locally housed.
